Selectmen's Office
The Selectmen's office administrates the day-day-day operation of the Town, including management of the General Government budget, and issues permits for the use of the Municipal Community Room, one-day passes to the Transfer Station and Temporary Pistol permits.

Town Clerk's Office
The Town Clerk's office is responsible for the recording and safe-keeping of all land records pertaining to real estate transactions in the Town. We issue all sportsmen licenses, dog licenses and marriage licenses. We maintain all birth, death and marriage certificates filed in the Town.

Tax Collector's Office
NOTICE: Tax payments are now overdue. Interest will accrue at 1.5% per month on any unpaid balance. To obtain a release for DMV, ALL taxes currently due must be paid in full.

Land Use Office
The Main Duty of the Land Use Office is to inform the public of all necessary zoning, wetland and building codes and regulations for the Town of Canterbury and to distribute the proper land use permits.

Assessor's Office
Our revaluation starts Thursday, October 30th. Dave Ingelse, Vision Appraisal's data collector, will be performing inspections of all properties in Canterbury beginning on Gooseneck Hill Rd and nearby side streets.

Town Treasurer's Office
The duties of the town treasurer are wide and far ranging. They include the day to day financial management of the town, by conservative investment of town funds and proper payment for authorized debts.

Municipal Agent to the Elderly
The Town of Canterbury Municipal Agent to the Elderly is available to assist seniors in information and referral services.

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department performs road maintenance, mows grass, prunes/removes brush/trees, picks up litter, plows snow, and paints stop bars. The crew also maintains trucks at the Town Garage.

Registrars of Voters
The Registrars of Voters are responsible for the administration of all local, state and national elections; the registration of all eligible voters; and the conduct of primaries and referendums.

Animal Control Services are provided by Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG), based in Dayville, CT. The contact phone number is (860) 774-1253. Probate Courts have jurisdiction over a wide variety of matters including: Trusts and Estates, Guardians, Conservators and Civil Commitment, and Parents.

Justices of the Peace
Justices of the Peace have general oath-giving powers, may take acknowledgments, may join persons in marriage, and may take depositions. All local Justices of the Peace reside in Canterbury.
